Sept Editorial Illustration for Xtra

I just sent off this illustration for an editorial piece
about the Ontario government funding LGBT
support groups in the big city but neglecting the
small town groups.

Mend (a new show of drawings)

I am going to have a new show in Nov at Gallery X. At this point the opening is scheduled for Thursday Nov 15th. I'll write all the when and where info in greater detail closer to the show date.

A while back I decided to try to have a gallery show every 2 years and it looks like I'll keep on schedule with this show. My last 2 solo shows featured paintings and I'm really excited to show off some of my drawings.

For those of you familiar with my painting and illustration work this new series may see it as an interesting departure. For those of you who have had a chance to peek at my "books of chaos" will see this as work that has been a long time in the making.

Here is the write up:

Inspired by instructional diagrams and anatomy drawings this new series explores the process of mending a broken heart. The tearing and taping process involved in creating the pieces in Mend are meant to reveal the fragile nature of this time and mimic the process of heart healing itself. Mend uses simple accessible materials like paper, masking tape and ink. Each piece is kept small in scale so as to inspire a quiet, intimate show.

Intro

I'm starting this blog to act as the "news" section to my new website (which I'm hoping to launch by Nov) but mostly I'm hoping this blog will motivate me to do more work so I'll have more to talk about ;)
